Located on a hill overlooking the city, the Parador of Cardona, a majestic medieval Romanesque castle church tower, is located in the heart of Catalonia, about 90 km from Barcelona, Lleida, Girona and Andorra.
Moats, towers, walls and Gothic decorations contribute to making this facility comfortable, inspired by the Catalan style, like its medieval furniture.
The fortification, whose oldest parts date back to the 9th century, the tower with the Minyona includes a beautiful church, and represents the Catalan Romanesque style.Its privileged position, where the feudal lords overlooked their main source of wealth: the Sal (Salt Mountain and Museum of Cardona), offers a beautiful view of the city and on the fertile lands along the river Cardoner.
Some rooms have romantic four-poster beds – the “Cardona” room, located on the old powder magazine of the fortress, stands out in particular for its spectacular cupola. It has a Jacuzzi and two huge windows. Its charm takes us back to the origins of the castle.
The Catalan cuisine is typically medieval such as the terrine with eggplants with pig's trotter and an assortment of cold-cuts.
In the surrounding areas there are many attractions and museums: Romance Montserrat (45 km), or the pathways of Solsonès (from 15 to 40 km), Bages (15 to 45 km). The Berguedá Observatory which leads tothe source of the Llobregat and the Pyrenees with its ski slopes.
