“Castello di Lispida” is in the centre of the Colli Euganei Natural Park, in quiet and evocative countryside that is appreciated by lovers of nature. The Lispida monastery has always been a fascinating place and an ideal location for cultivation of vines and olives.
Back in 1150, Pope Eugenio III gave the order of Saint Augustine possession of the hills and a church dedicated to St. Maria of Lispida. In the beginning of the 19th century, the property was acquired by the Counts Corinaldi, who built the present Castle and imposing cellars, starting large-scale production of famous wines for Europe. 5 apartments for 4 to 7 people and 2 double rooms have been created, with care and respect for the historical environment, among which is the ancient residence of Vittorio Emanuele III: Lispida hosted his general headquarters during the First World War. Pleasantly furnished with antique furniture and every modern comfort, they occupy various parts of the Castle, the Granary Barn and the small Torretta (Turret) annex, overlooking the walled courtyard.
A wide choice of elegant, decorated salons and rooms with frescoes (holding 12 to 500 people) will enchant you, as will the priceless antique furniture, rugs and prints, and rare marble and wood. Allow yourselves to be tempted, for banquets or fairytale weddings, by the flaming torches that reflect on the Neo-Gothic mullion windows.
The estate covers 90 hectares and includes a thermal lake with warm springs from which therapeutic mud is extracted. The area is famous for its spa centres (Abano, Montegrotto and many others), which offer every kind of treatment, mud treatments and massages for your total relaxation. And in the historic 1870 greenhouse, there is a swimming pool with an all-year-round constant temperature (32° water, 28° air) and hydro-massage beds, counter-current swimming and effervescent bench from which there is a splendid view of the monastery’s ancient vegetable garden.
For art lovers, there is Castello di Monselice - the medieval town of Arquà Petrarca - and the magnificent cities of Padua, Venice and Verona which offer a rich cultural itinerary. For sports enthusiasts, mountain-bikes are available free of charge, some riding stables organize horse riding/trekking and there are four splendid challenging golf courses nearby too.
