“L’Orto degli Angeli” is a historical residence, comprising an elegant building completed in the 18th century overlooking another older residence of various periods but chiefly the 16th century and built on the remains of a temple and a Roman theatre dating from the 1st century A.D. The enormous historical-architectonic value of the structure, with its characteristic overlapping styles, has in fact gained the Umbrian Region’s recognition as ‘Period Residence’.
Situated in the main street of Bevagna, the buildings are enriched by a spectacular hanging garden, from which the residence takes its name – joined with the name of the aristocratic family owners. An enchanting terrace with wisteria flowers crowns the imposing 16th century lodge with incomparable beauty.
The prestigious lodgings, each one different from another, are distributed between the two buildings and mostly have the original period furniture, paintings, domestic equipment and other small objects which tell its story, having been there all the time, giving an exclusive touch to the comfort of the environment.
The elegant 18th century residence has valuable frescoes, while the other lodgings created from the ancient houses are characterised by being on quaint different medieval levels and having suggestive plaques of Roman remains incorporated into the architectonic spaces in successive eras.
The sumptuous hospitality is added to by the restaurant, with a cuisine of ancient tradition and refined simplicity.
