Castello di Rosciano

Castello di Rosciano is on the hills between Assisi and Perugia, in the silence of the evergreen oak trees woods. It is an imposing sandstone building, austere yet dominating and hidden among the trees of the Tiber Valley and Chiascio.
The main building hosts splendid renovated salons which have names of personages who influenced the destiny of the Rosciano family, while in front of the building, the Benedictine monastery hosts the bedrooms, each one a different colour.

Built in the Lombard era on an ancient Etruscan and then Roman site, in the year 1000 it was already considered impregnable. It was at the height of its splendour in the early Middle Ages for its military and religious power and was the aristocratic residence of the Scifi counts of Sassorosso, a family of imperial origin following Federico II, and to whom the emperor gave the castle and large estate. Completely in ruins after alternating vicissitudes, it has returned to its ancient splendour today.

A large grass ‘balcony’ and a spectacular swimming pool overlook Assisi, Perugia, Torgiano and Bettona in an evocative scenario, both by day and by night. Other ancient buildings, walls, chapels, staircases, terraces, bridge arches and little squares surround the building, creating a multitude of short cuts in an unforgettable and perfect atmosphere for parties, receptions and concerts, both inside and outside.

The prestigious salons, heated in winter and also with great stone fireplaces, cool in summer with their thick walls, can host up to 300 people for historic re-enactments, weddings or conferences. The series of arches and mullioned windows make these areas particularly suggestive and create a bewitching and enchanting atmosphere during party evenings, illuminated by torchlight and chandeliers.
