In the Marche countryside, the 2 Campanili Relais dominates the summit of a hill with a large panorama of the rolling hinterland down to the Adriatic Sea. The ancient village of Montemaggiore al Metauro, with a fascinating 5th century historical centre, has been transformed into a ‘diffused’ (community) hotel, giving back life to the town without losing its character.
The atmosphere has not changed with time: Wandering among the secular alleys and lanes and the small staircases, it continues to reveal surprises: a frieze, a loggia, a door, a flower-decorated window-sill, a panorama…
The Relais is of “horizontal” shape with bedrooms and services in different buildings, yet near each other. At the same time, it offers all the comforts of a modern hotel with catering, welcome, assistance, common spaces… - all carried out respecting the tradition of provincial towns.
Various small houses with warm reddish terracotta walls host the 35 elegant bedrooms, with all facilities and comfortable and each one different in style, from Liberty to the classic style of the 1940s. With antique furniture, they retain the warm and welcoming atmosphere of country homes.
In the restaurant annex, with frescoed ceilings and ancient stone portals, you can savour regional cuisine with buffet lunch and dinner. And the SPA, surrounded by a pine wood, invites you to take a relaxing break with treatments and methods to re-equilibrate body and mind, also with swimming pool, hydro-massage and sauna.
The list of events is also full: painting exhibitions, wood craftsmanship, embroidery, bobbin lacework, market show with typical local products: honey, jams, pasta, wine…
And finally, you can visit the “Winston Churchill” museum with relics of the period. Indeed, Montemaggiore was chosen as a base by the English statesman so that the movement of the allied advance could be observed from high.
