Hotel Le Dune

Hotel Le Dune is situated in the centre of the spectacular sandy valley of Piscinas on the south-western coast of Sardinia, between Capo Pecora and Capo Frasca. With a backdrop of an intense azure sea and only 150m from a splendid beach a few kilometres long, the three main buildings are linked to each other by an enchanting internal courtyard and by a little square overlooking the sea.

The hotel was once an eighteenth century mine where the extracted minerals – lead, zinc and silver – were deposited and transported by the small railway of Ingurtosu, a once flourishing and active ancient village, now silent and in semi-ruins but classified as ‘World Heritage Site’ by Unesco.

Also the hotel itself, a great house in grey stone and golden plasterwork which was part of the abandoned site with the ancient stables of draft horses and today houses Punic and Roman archaeological artefacts, has been declared a national monument for its historical and artistic qualities.
