Château De La Bourdaisière

“Château de la Bourdaisière” is poised in the quiet of its own 140-acre parkland, embraced between the towns of Tours and Amboise in the heart of the Loire Valley. Just a leisurely drive from Paris, this magnificent 15th century structure, the quintessential French castle, is set amongst the famous vineyards of Montlouis and Vouvray.

Once the residence of favoured women who prominently contributed to its history, this marvellous mansion was first built by Francois Ier in honour of his mistress and later became the preferred residence of the celebrated Gabrielle d’Estrées, favourite consort of Henri IV.

The castle boasts generous bedchambers named after its historic residents, for example the stately Henri IV guestroom, with its lavish, rich crimson fabrics and kindred furnishings, authentic four poster canopied-bed and original striking fireplace, sure to warm and soothe the weary traveller, just as it did for its illustrious residents centuries ago.

Other rooms are found in the adjoining 17th-century "stables" outfitted with a well-furnished gardening shop and a charming eatery for those lazy afternoon strolls along the castle grounds and woodland pathways, just like Kings of by-gone eras.
