“La Canonica di Cortine” is made up of a group of typical, suggestive Tuscan buildings, created on and around the foundations of an ancient Castle, documented since the beginning of the 11th century.
The building with ‘Villa Castrum’, an exquisite example of “Lorenese” architecture of the period, stands out majestically at the top of a hill in the suburb of Barberino Val d’Elsa, surrounded by woods, vineyards and olive groves in the fascinating Chianti area, a countryside rich in history, and through which passed the roads of the Etruscans, also leaving numerous traces in the Cortine area.
A large variety of welcoming lodgings are in the converted ancient chapel, the old hay loft and other independent houses or part of the reconstructed façade of the ancient castle. Large lounges, often enhanced by fireplaces, and the fantastic panorama of the green hills, once admired and painted by Florentine masters, characterise the enchanting environment of these elegant apartments.
The Vecchia Torre (Old Tower), also carefully renovated with taste and particular elements, hosts the Bed & Breakfast rooms, each one being the ‘custodian angel’ of a Renaissance painter.
The luxuriant park with swimming pool frames this ancient country residence, enveloped in the fascination of the Tuscan Middle Ages.
