Castello di Monterone

“Castello di Monterone” dates from 1200 according to the first historical information and is situated on a hill with a panoramic view over the valleys between Assisi and Perugia. This idyllic residence, immersed in the Umbrian countryside, is a real jewel - a treasury of art and splendid ornate salons and frescoes.

Some of these hold signs of adventurous captains of the late medieval period, whilst others were built with visible stone walls and have ancient fireplaces, conserving the suggestive atmosphere of the embattled castle, called “Piceller”.

The enchanting bedrooms and suites of this picturesque period residence also evoke the fascination of a rich historical past. Spacious and comfortable, each one different from another and unique, knowingly furnished in style respecting the original use of each area.

The fascinating exterior exalts a welcoming and romantic atmosphere with luxuriant gardens, the “roseto delle signore” with more than two hundred rose plants, and a splendid courtyard with a majestic cypress tree which reigns next to the characteristic well. Pine and Evergreen Oak trees surround the historical residence, the park and the lovely open-air swimming pool.
