“Le Domaine de Beauvois” is a stunning 16th century manor house lulled by 350 acres of prime wooded parkland, on the western outskirts of Tours, overlooking the Briffaut lake. Formerly known as Château Beauvais, its name was taken from the Latin ‘bellum visum’ meaning literally ‘beautiful view’.
Through the centuries, the stately Château had a succession of different prominent owners and guests, amongst them Grace Kelly, Robert de Niro and the celebrated architect Le Corbusier, who it is recorded, sojourned several times at the castle, owned by a friend of him. Legend has even King Louis XIII admired its regal location on the occasion of a hunting party.
Since its complete transformation in the latter half of the 20th century, what came to be known as the present day ‘Domaine’ was continuously embellished and extended, becoming a true oasis of tranquillity and beauty.
Today the idyllic castle grounds also provide for a good game of ping-pong, cricket or badminton to please and entertain valued guests.
As a deluxe first class hotel the ‘Domaine de Beauvois’ also vaunts exceptional accommodations, lavishly appointed with antique furniture, en-suite bathroom, flat-screen TV and WiFi access - and all with exquisite touches of grand French style and elegance.
