Ardanaiseig Hotel

“Ardanaiseig Hotel” was designed by William Burn, eminent 19th century architect, with strong Scottish Baronial influences for Colonel Archibald Campbell of the Clan Campbell.

An austere, wealthy man, Col. Campbell ruled his household with a firm hand and supervised all aspects of his family’s devout, disciplined lifestyle.

It was recorded that guests of the mansion at the time had to bring their own liquor which in turn they could only consume in private and were expected to wash away all evidence of such activity afterwards.

Fortunately, Ardanaiseig today allows for a good, old-fashioned glass of Scottish malt following a deliciously sumptuous candlelit dinner complemented by crisp linen tablecloths, glints of silverware and sparkling crystal – to be savoured best at the warm log fire and the evocative ancient smell of wood smoke in the bar library.

Rooms at Ardanaiseig are equally grand and welcoming, with large comfortable beds, beautiful antiques and works of art to indulge all the senses, each one reminiscent of the local countryside, named after the glens, lochs and mountains of the Loch Awe landscape.
