Achamore House

“Achamore House”, elegantly set in the lush green 50-acre spread of Achamore Gardens on the “Isle of Gigha” in Argyllshire, is a splendid example of a grand baronial mansion built by Captain James Scarlett in 1884 and landscaped almost exclusively by Col. Sir James Horlick during his ownership in the mid 20th century.

His garden has been recognised and admired worldwide as much for its spectacular rhododendrons, as for its many rare species of trees and shrubs. Because the Island affords one of the warmest climates in Scotland, guests can delight in discovering the many sub-tropical plants to be found in the magnificent gardens year round.

Today “Achamore House” provides warm and inviting Bed and Breakfast accommodations on its beautiful island of the Inner Hebrides. All guestrooms, accessible via the grand, stunning wooden staircase, feature spacious dimensions with lots of natural light, lovely views and beautiful, antique furniture to complete this idyllic island retreat.

In this elegant country house, guests can also wander through its lively Snooker Room, its classic wood-panelled Library and an authentic Flower Essence Repertoire Room to enjoy during a delightful sojourn.
