“Inverlochy Castle Hotel” had been the private residence of a distinguished Scottish family for over one hundred years, before it was converted into a first-class, prime luxury accommodations Castle in 1969, quickly establishing itself as one of the finest country estate hotels in Scotland.
Built in 1863 by the first Lord Abinger, it stood close to the ruins of the original 13th century fortress.
Shortly after its completion, Queen Victoria, during one of her trips to Balmoral in 1873, spent a week at Inverlochy and whilst there, was utterly enchanted and inspired to sketch and paint, as in her words, set forth in her private diary, ‘I never saw a lovelier or more romantic spot’.
True to its grandeur, every one of the originally designed and furnished guestrooms comes complete with a 30-inch Phillips mirror television and personal laptop computer with internet access.
Inverlochy’s award-wining dining experience can be savoured in one of three finely appointed rooms, each with its own elaborate period furniture presented as gifts to the castle from the King of Norway.
