“La Mirande” is a living historical monument and tribute to several centuries of architectural reincarnations, finally given a proper name following a long succession from some of its most prestigious owners, not the least of which were ‘Livrée de Saint-Martial’ the original name of the first structure, later enhanced to serve as the ‘Cardinal’s Palace’, then ‘Maison de Vervins’, a restored and embellished residence inherited by Marquis Pierre de Vervins, and finally it was known as ‘Hôtel Pamard’, an aristocratic manor belonging to a prominent Avignon family up until the 20th century.
During these years, the palatial manor exuded a sombre neo-gothic atmosphere, enclosed in heavy drapes, seemingly guarding the secret and mysterious lives of its residents for the better part of its existence.
Finally in the 21st century, taken over by passionate, dedicated proprietors who opened its majestic doors to the outside world, this extraordinary edifice was patiently and zealously revived. Today, elegance reigns supreme throughout its grand couloirs and arresting guestrooms, with their ornate wood panelling and demurely exuberant wall tapestry, an unparalleled legacy of pure luxury and beauty.
