Le Château de Pray

“Le Château de Pray”, named after its original owner, Geoffroy de Pray, was constructed as a stronghold in the year 1244, bearing witness to its bold French heritage. Perched high upon the slopes dominating the Loire Valley, it rests majestically and secluded in its dense rich woods.

It was only later during the Renaissance that this handsome Château was converted into a private residence for the ‘Commissioner of Artillery’ of the Queen of England, then later that of intimates of the royal court of Spain and France.

Furnished in traditional French design, the tastefully appointed guestrooms will delight travellers with inviting canopied beds and with soft, demure colours and details, particular to every room.

This stunning castle hotel provides a large range of activities, a horse riding center, a fitness center, fishing at the Loire River, golf, tennis and cycling facilities for guests’ entertainment and enjoyment. And of course the marvellous landscape is the perfect setting for long leisurely strolls.

Guests can also meander through the nearby town of Amboise, known as the jewel of French royalty as well as Clos Lucé, former home of Leonardo da Vinci.
And to top off the evening, an exquisite meal in their fine, regal dining room.
