La Tour Du Roy

“La Tour du Roy” is regally poised in the historic town of Vervins, the ancient Verbinium, an awe-inspiring 2000 year old centre, settled by none other than Caesar’s legions, as far back as 52 BC, who built, amongst other architectural wonders, an open air theatre seating no less than 5000 spectators.

The first ramparts of this impressive structure arose in the 12th century, later to withstand eight sieges and many successive wars and pillages.

During the early 19th century, the first of a long line of luminaries and distinguished guests visited the majestic structure, most notably Napoleon himself, stopping over at the staging post known as Pandour on his way to Waterloo. Later, this magnificent castle hotel also played host to such prominent 20th century figures as Charles de Gaulle and François Mitterand, both past Presidents of France.

Today, esteemed guests can enjoy all the opulence and majesty of this quintessential Château, in particular its gastronomic cuisine, served in a quietly intimate, authentic medieval dining room, with wonderful, prized furnishings and spectacular views of the entire town it once reigned supreme.
