“Castello di Gargonza”, a medieval village complete with tower, walls and 13th century Romanesque parish church, is majestically situated on the rolling hills of Val di Chiana, between Arezzo and Siena. In the long history of the estate, the most illustrious guest has been Dante Alighieri in 1302, as the historian Leonardo Bruni recounts in his ‘Vita di Dante’ and as cited on the memorial plaque at the entrance to the Castle.
A vast wooded area of over 600 hectares surrounds the picturesque village and is rich in flora and fauna, offering an ideal occasion to rediscover this enchanting countryside, walking along its ancient pathways in close contact with nature, collecting mushrooms, chestnuts and blackberries.
The old guesthouse has elegant bedrooms, while a great variety of apartments and lodgings of various dimensions and categories (up to 10 people), all furnished and equipped with taste, are to be found in the delightful little ancient houses of the village.
In its panoramic position, the “la Torre di Gargonza”, renowned restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, offers genuine and exquisite Tuscan cuisine. With a total capacity of 250 people, inside and outside, it is the ideal setting for banquets and weddings.
The “Sala del Frantoio”, with adjacent “Limonaia”, the large green areas and the splendid swimming pool, surrounded by cypress and olive trees, all crown this unique experience of ‘living the history and traditions’ of Val di Chiana.
