This house built in 1850 was resorted into The Hotel Catedral Almeria, and still maintains parts of it’s magnificent architecture, such as its Mudejar style restaurant or it’s old eleventh century cistern.
The hotel is located in Cathedral Square in the historic and commercial center of Almeria at only 500 meters of the ocean and the famous Alcazaba.
Its location is ideal to visit the Cathedral-Fortress that was built in the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries, or the Alcazaba, which is the largest Muslim Fortress in Europe, and was built in the tenth century by the Caliph Abderrahman III, also Natural Park Cabo de Gata, the first Andalusian natural land- maritime park, and one of the richest reserves the Mediterranean, that stretches within 34.000 acres of land and 12.000 hectares of marine Park.
From here you can also visit The Architectural Museum, located in the province of Almeria, which also features architectural treasures of prehistory and different eras thereafter.
The Cathedral Hotel also offers a restaurant, run by renowned chef Tony Garcia and a bar inside the hotel that carries his name. Here you can enjoy the typical tapas of Almeria or the exclusive chef tapas, as well as grilled meats or a variety of tasting venues.
The city also offers a huge variety of bars where you can enjoy the typical Alemeria tapas. Or if you prefer, you can drive to Mojacar where you will find great restaurants that serve fresh seafood and fish, and you can also choose to take a walk along its ancient streets while enjoying the remains of last Muslim occupation or the swim in the beautiful beaches of crystal blue water.
