The Hotel Palacio Urgoiti is a 17th century palace, also known as Gallo Palace or Adan Yarza Palace. It is located at 12 km from the Centre of Bilbao and at 5 km from the airport of Sondika.
The original structure was built by Don Miguel Larrea Velez at the end of the 17th century, and its situation dominated the roads of Arratia and Zomotza, which were the perfect scenario of historical events in Bizcaya, besides a perfect meeting place for illustrious visitors, including Don Carlos of Borbon, pretender to the throne and rival of Elizabeth II.
Later in 1968, the Palacio Urgoiti was expropriated and demolished to built a new highway Bilbao-Behobia, but the owner of the Palace decided to dismantle the building, stone by stone and was not until 2004 that it was decided to rebuild the palace between Bilbao and Mungia where it now stands.
The hotel combines classic and modern styles and cares much for clarity in its decoration. The interior is modern and it includes some antique furniture that belonged to the Marquis of Monsalud.
The Palacio Urgoiti offers wonderful views and it's surrounded by a quiet and natural environment. All rooms are spacious and bright and have elegant décor.
