Castello di Cafaggio

A splendid 14th century building, “Castello di Cafaggio” is in a wonderful panoramic position on a hill of olive trees and vines, dominating the towns of Impruneta, San Casciano and the Greve valley.

The small town has a rich history which even caught the attention of Giacomo Puccini, who spent several days enjoying the hunting in the thick secular wood which covers over 100 hectares, and which hosts a large variety of plants, flowers, mushrooms and wildlife.

One of the columned houses adjacent to the castle has been renovated and transformed into a country holiday place with two apartments and one house independent, all furnished with the family’s antique furniture, and some decorated by the proprietor.

The original terracotta, the large stone walls, the ceiling beams and the old doors made of cypress wood preserve the fascination of the old country houses.

From among the lemon and almond trees and the fragrances of rosemary and lavender, a spectacular panorama of the Florence countryside opens up and breathtaking sunsets can be enjoyed.

Allowing its guests to participate in the ancient countryside and artistic traditions, the castle organises painting and cooking courses, exhibitions and concerts, wine-tasting and visits to the ancient wine/olive presses and to the ancient wine cellars.

The castle’s courtyard, Italian garden, beautiful salons and private chapel make an ideal setting for dream weddings and receptions.
