Parador de Zafra

The majestic Parador de Zafra, named "Duque de Feria", lies next to the Church of Santa Marina, at the heart of this small village between Mérida and Seville. The construction of the Castle began in 1437 to become the residence of the Dukes of Feria "Greats of Spain".
The historical value of the palazzo ducale is expressed through a spectacular facade and nine crenellated towers that jealously guard a noble and impressive interior preserving beautiful coffered ceilings, tapestries and other fascinating details of the Duchy, which also decorated the majority of the rooms of the hotel. The most impressive room is the "SalaDorada" located in the upper cloister.

Zafra is located between Mérida and Seville, internationally renowned tourist destinations, Route de la Plata and the street of the Knights Templar.
Surrounded by a beautiful garden with outdoor swimming pool, the Parador is an ideal destination to discover monumental surroundings - with the convent of Santa Clara and the House-Palace of the Marquess of Solanda - and natural sites in southern Extremadura, for example, the path of Burguillo Templars del Cerro (19 km), Jerez de los Caballeros (38 km) and Fregenal Sierra (61 km).Or explore Cornalvo Park (65 miles), Sierra Hornachos (45 km) or that of Tentudía (40 km), go for a ride on horseback or visit to a typical festival: end of June in Zafra, or at the end of May at Jerez de los Caballeros.

The Parador's restaurant serves the best dishes of Extremadura, such as lamb stew, “monastic”, the Iberian sirloin with cheese, and, of course, the ham of Extremadura.
