Parador de Ciudad Rodrigo

Raised in a breach in the valley of the Agueda and covered in ivy, the castle of Henry II houses the Parador de Ciudad Rodrigo. The 14th century building is part of the historic and artistic centre of the city, surrounded by walls dating back to the middle ages, with a length of about 2 km. The gates of the city, the Cathedral buildings and other historic buildings are preserved in a privileged location.

After having crossed the beautiful garden of the Parador, you will appreciate the period objects held inside such as Castilian furniture, the courtyard, the beautiful rooms with majestic vaults, some with an exceptional view.
A particular mention goes to the spacious and comfortable room, "Doña Leonor de Trastámara" decorated with red velvet, with a 5 meter high vault.

The stone arches in the dining room spark admiration, just like the typical dishes of Salamanca such as the local cold-cuts, the Farinato (white sausage), succulent roasts and Iberian ham.

Close to the frontier with Portugal (28 km), Ciudad Rodrigo is only 89 km away from Salamanca, a university city par excellence with its famous monuments.
